Signs of Spring

Today I spotted three sure signs of spring.

1. Frogs in the drainage channel from the moat. A sure sign that Froggy Love Day will soon be upon us.

2. A duck nesting in the hollow oak tree. She nests there each year and every time I miss the moment when the ducklings plummet like little fuzzy missiles, from the tree to the water.

3. A beetle in my bra. Sadly I have no photo of this, as I took off the aforementioned garment to see what was so itchy within it, and my first reaction was to exclaim"oh!" and to ping the beetle into beetley orbit with a flick of my finger. Wonder what sort of beetle he was....?

do they? things you learn...

They certainly do. They are croaking now, I can hear them when I open the windows. Macca's Frog Chorus was so off the mark. They are far more Barry White influenced.

Aaargh!
Frog Alert!! Frog Alert!!
Even in pictures they give me the shudders.
Hope the beetle wasn't the Death Watch or woodworm variety. But what was it doing there?

Sorry, Stitchwort! There is a possibility that the next few postings will contain frog and toad related material. It's that time of year, I'm afraid.

He was just a small, dark beetle. Perfectly formed and utterly untraumatised by his adventures in my bra. Maybe he was looking for crumbs.

Lucky old beetle...(to say the least)... if he'd been a Stag Beetle you'd surely have known it...(god if I could be re-incarnated as a lower life form it would surely have been worth it!)
